Episode 3
Hello readers! I'm so glad to have episode 3 out for you to read! I am really enjoying writing this story. Hopefully, you enjoy reading it!
ALSO! I know there was a good deal of readers who wanted to be able to follow me through a blog other than LJ since LJ is kinda difficult to follow. I made a blog simply to post links to, but it will be easy to follow. I'll also post other stories that I read and enjoy as well as SIM bloopers.

It was time for the first day back at school. Irena and Dakota, like any other day, walked together to school.
"Only a few more weeks until the concert!" Irena gushed.
"Have you started on your outfit yet?" Dakota asked Irena.
"I decided not to go back to the drafting board yesterday." Irena confessed to Dakota. Irena pierced her lips together when she thought about her spat with Micah.
"Irena." Micah's voice called out to her.
Irena and Dakota turned around to face him.
What did he want. Irena shuffled her feet.
"I have a question I need to ask you." Micah pursued.
Irena was speechless. He needed to ask her something.
"Look, I know we don't get along, but it is important. I need you to keep the fact that I'm living in your house a secret."
"Why? You don't want the school to know that the all perfect Micah Dastin has to live in someone else's house?"
"No, drama seems to find you at school. I don't want any part of it because I live in the same house as you," Micah said, placing his hands in his pockets.
"Oh," Irena said, her eyes falling to the ground.
"It will just make things difficult for me among other things." Micah continued, "So please don't be a gossip."
"Don't worry. I won't tell." Irena bit her lip.
Micah nodded and walked ahead.
Dakota turned to Irena, "Really! The nerve of that guy!"
Irena was still unsure of what to say.
"What would be the big deal if anyone knew? You should just tell the whole world!" Dakota told Irena.
"It will be fine really. Just let him keep his secret." Irena assured Dakota.
Micah's words "Don't be a gossip." rung in her ears. Why did she care about what he thought of her.
"After the humiliation he put you through and now you are going to keep his secret. Are you sure you still don't like him."
"That jerk! Of course not! I guess I just feel bad for him. I mean his mom did kick him out. I guess he has went through something similar to me then."
"Whatever you say." Dakota rolled her eyes.
It was homeroom. Irena and Micah went back to the old ways when they didn't know each other. Although, Irena couldn't help but steal glances at him. It was frustrating to her how he could just act like she didn't exist. She was glad, though, that talk from last year had died down. No one really mentioned her letter to Micah.
As Mrs Patterson took row, the door opened. Two students students walked in causally and just stood there waiting to be directed.
"Oh good! You must be our new students." Mrs. Patterson chimed. "Please have a seat. We are in the middle of taking row. Class this is Issac Hemingway and Nina Hemingway. They have transferred from Bridgeport Academy."
Issac looked pretty laid back and didn't hesitate to take a seat at the end of the row.
The entire time, Dakota did not keep her eyes off of Issac. When he walked by her, she got a good weft of his cologne. He slightly looked her way and nodded. She froze just slightly and gave a weak smile.
"Girl! Look at you swoon!" Irena teased her.
"Shut up." Dakota said looking down.
"He is good looking." Irena nudged her arm.
"Okay, be quite." Dakota's cheeks flushed.
Irena just laughed. Dakota must be pretty interested in him if she is shying away.
However, it was Nina who caught all the boys attention. Not only was she gorgeous, but she walked with confidence and dressed with class.
"That is your competition, bro." Joshua told Micah.
"Huh?" Micah said looking away from Nina.
"You know how my uncle is the principal? Well he told my family one day that we had a transfer student who was top of her class. He said it would be a close call for valedictorian this year." Joshua said in a hushed tone.
"Hmm." Micah nodded taking another glance at Nina as she sat down.
It was after homeroom when Carma and Jenna decided to greet their new classmate.
"Love your dress. Wow! Is that really Sadonna?" Carma gushed over the designer dress.
"Of course it is." Nina said.
"You should try out for the cheer leading squad." Jenna suggested to her.
Carma elbowed her in the stomach, "What she means is, I'm the captain of the cheer leading squad, and we are looking for some new girls."
"Oh, well thank you for the offer, but I have enough going on. I'm focusing on my GPA, and I am hoping to join the Sim Teen Club."
"That's right! We heard about your smarts!" Jenna smiled.
"Yeah, it will be nice to have some competition around here. Nobody has gotten close to Micah's GPA in a few years."
"Micah?" Nina asked the girls.
They continued to fill her in on the school.
Meanwhile, Micah watched her from afar. He didn't care about their conversations. This was his competition. Throughout his entire high school career, there was hardly anyone who came close enough to wavering his position as first in class. He was intrigued.
"Dude, quit drooling." Joshua nudged Micah.
"Don't worry. Just studying the competition." Micah said with a smirk.
"Oh and look how much beauty there is to study." Joshua chimed.
Irena was checking her email for a very important message. It is the beginning of her senior year and had was hoping to hear back from fashion schools. While some came through the mail, there were a few others came through email. There were two emails from prospective schools. She held her breath and opened the email.
Irena Anore,
Thank you for your interest in our academy. We are sorry to inform you that after carefully reviewing you application we can not offer you acceptance at this time. We considered all aspects of your application, but with the number of applicants this term, we had to choose the top who met our standards and held great talents.
That being said, there were many talented and eligible applicants this term. Unfortunately, with the limited space available, there were many who were turned away.
We did, however, take the time to review each application and took small notes on what could be stronger from the applicant.
While your design was very tasteful and showed much talent, your grades lack. Although you maintain a low 2.87 average, the grades lack in your mathematical and other extracurricular activities. While our school looks for talented designers and artists, we also encourage a strong academic transcript.
Thank you
Irena sighed as she read the letter. She opened the next one only to find a similar answer. She really wanted to get into a fashion school rather than going to a typical University. It almost seemed as if that was not going to happen.
"You don't look happy. I'm assuming you didn't get in?" Dakota said behind Irena.
"Apparently I'm getting the your too dumb shoulder from everyone these days." Irena said angrily.
"Really? It's not like your grades are that bad," Dakota said.
"Actually, they are. I only hold a 2.8 because of Home Ec, English, and Gym. However, my Math, Science, and French are borderline failing in some. It doesn't look that good."
"Wow, what a gap!" Dakota looked sympathetically at her friend.
"So what are you planning on doing?" Dakota asked.
"Well, I'm probably going to have to go to a typical University my first semester or two rather than a academy. So I should probably get my grades up my last bit of high school and do a good job during college."
"Yeah, but how are you going to bring it up so fast? You will have to at least get A's on all the tests in order for it to look that much better."
Irena thought about this question. There was no way she was going to able to learn everything on her own. Just the thought of looking at a math book made her cringe. She knew it was important for designing career, but she had been doing so well winging it, she never thought about actually learning it. There wasn't many people around who she thought could help her though. Suddenly, an idea popped into her mind. She bit her lip at the thought.
While no one was around to make assumptions, Irena walked up to Micah.
"I need to talk to you."
"Maybe later?" Micah said.
"Please, it's a favor." Irena poked out her bottom lip.
He shifted his feet. Why did she think that giving him the puppy face would help her at all, he thought.
"Look. I'll scratch your back, if you scratch mine. You want me to keep your secret about living with me, so I need this favor from you." Irena proposed her proposition.
"What favor?" Micah asked her.
"I need you to tutor me. Mainly in math and some other stuff, but I need to get my grade up fast."
"Why can't you just study and pay attention in class?" He asked. Micah didn't understand it from her point of view. Micah had always been able to read something once and remember it. But for someone like Irena who forgot after a few seconds, it was different.
"uhg! Never mind. I don't even know why I came up with this crazy idea. It's not like I could stand being in the same room with you anyways." Irena huffed.
"That's not what I meant." Micah was taken back by her bad mood.
"No forget it." Irena stormed off.
Micah stood there confused. He hadn't even really said no to her. He realized that there must have been something wrong today to put her in such a foul mood. Micah shook it off . It was her problem. He had his own grades to worry about.
Micah sat eating his salad. He figured food would help suppress his foul mood. He was intrigued that he actually had competition. Lately, his life had been a bit bland with no one to challenge him.
Micah looked up as he heard the chair in front of him slide from underneath the table. He was surprised to see Nina sitting there smiling at him.
"I thought I would introduce myself. I seem to be hearing a lot about you around here," she said to him.
"I hope good things," Micah smirked.
"Mostly." Nina never let her posture down. "I hear we are neck and neck for valedictorian."
"I hear the same." Micah said. While he was a little tense, he released the pressure in his shoulders. An act of coolness to show her he wasn't too worried about it.
"I wanted to say I hope this doesn't make me your mortal enemy or anything. I was hoping we could be friends, maybe even study together." Nina said very coolly.
"I don't seek enemies." Micah smiled.
"Good. I think it will be fun to have some competition. There was hardly any for me back at Bridgeport. Although, I am glad as well that there is someone around I can share a decent conversation with."
"We should form a study group. I actually have a friend who needs help studying for some classes. While we may be a good deal ahead of her, it would still be good to study with her since she asked." Micah suggested. He wasn't even sure why he suggested it. He never studied with anyone. Although, he did feel bad about his conversation with Irena earlier. He would feel even guiltier if he agreed to study with Nina after blowing Irena off.
Micah walked through the door. He had stayed a little later at the library than he had intended. It was annoying coming here and Irena always throwing a fit around him. Why couldn't I live with someone who acts more mature, he thought. He noticed a stack of mail on the table. Not that he would have any mail coming here, but he couldn't help but notice an envelope from an academy. He sighed and looked closer. It was Sims Fashion Academy. It hadn't been opened yet, which was surprising to him.
If she wanted to get in so badly she would be anxiously waiting the acceptance letters. He rubbed his head. Then he thought about her foul mood earlier. Perhaps she had already been getting letters, but they weren't acceptance letters, he deduced.
Micah contemplated on opening the letter. Why should he even care. Finally, he peaked a glance at it. His face held composure, but he was slightly disappointed. He walked over to the trash and threw it away.
She doesn't need to see another rejection letter.
Micah watched Irena as she carefully tried to measure out the bodice of a design. He smirked at the thought of trying. Perhaps his words to her had started to sink to her. Or perhaps it was the rejection letters. Either way, he still felt bad about putting her off earlier. Micah cleared his throat.
Irena noticed a change in presence around her. She slowly turned around to find Micah watching her.
"What do you want?" Irena said a little weakly. Then she narrowed her eyes. "Are you here to belittle my work again?"
"I never belittled...." Micah started to argud, but realized that it would only get her started on a rant. He didn't like that from anyone and mostly ignored them. But with Irena it was different, so he was careful not to lose face.
"I wanted to apologize for earlier," Micah said.
"What?" Irena said scratching her head. Micah apologizing to her?
"I have a lot on my mind right now, and I didn't mean to take it out on you."
"Is this some sort of reverse psychology?" Irena looked at him quizzically. Micah laughed.
"I am actually starting a study group with another student. I figured since you seem so passionate lately to pick up your grades, you might want to join us."
Irena scratched her head and bit her lip. She was waiting for the bite after a bark, but was surprised to think he was being genuine.
"Sure..." She said still weary.
"Then it's settled. This weekend. We will have it here, but don't forget to keep the secret," Micah told her.
Ah so that's it, she thought, He doesn't want me opening my mouth and telling everyone we live together. My threat actually scared him.
"Fine." Irena said with a sly smile. She was happy thinking that for once she had the upper hand.
End of Episode 3
I'm really starting to enjoy this story. It is a lot of fun to write! I have been busy writing the sequel to my novel, Gemini of Emreiana. But I am surprised to find that I am becoming pretty disciplined in these chapters as well. How do you think the story is going? How do you think our characters are holding up? I love reading your response!
LJ is a little hard to follow, yes :) I didn't even realize you had this chapter up, and it's a story I really like!
ReplyDeleteIrena, ah Irena. Still so immature that she thinks of this in terms of "having the upper hand". I'm really looking forward to how you develop this
Oh, and I finished Gemini last night! So sad about Kyle :( And I wonder too why he never took things to an intimate level with her. But her attraction to Aaron was definitely there, almost visceral. When I got to the end of the book after the last conversation, I was like "oh heck no she can't leave it with a cliffhanger like that!" and then I remembered it's a trilogy :P So yay. Looking forward to the sequel now, to find out what happens between them and how she adjusts to her new life. I'll post a review for it on the Nook, too. Good job!
That's cool that you made a page on Blogger for the links. I added it to my reading list.
ReplyDeletePoor Irena, she's still so defensive. Micah's trying to be nice now, she should give him a chance to at least be her friend. You did a fine job of making me remember why I hated school. LOL. All that pressure to do well with grades... :) -LateKnightSimmer
Yeah, I had a few requests from readers because of how hard LJ is to keep stuff added to rss feed. I'm glad it is helping my readers keep up with my work.
ReplyDeleteIrena has good reasons to still be defensive he was a huge jerk to her, but you're right, he is trying to help now. The thing to remember is that Micah would never study with anyone, so there has to be a good reason behind it.
Apparently, Micah has a heart. Who knew?! Haha... He's such a character from korean shows. The guys are always mean to the girl and feel guilty about it then they have to make some sort of grand gesture to make up for it.
ReplyDeleteReally feel bad for Irena but methinks it'll all work out for her eventually.
Well it's a start at least! Micah still has a lot to learn before he can be completely human towards her. Lol.
ReplyDeleteI love this, Kristen! I really hope Irena will get in to Fashion School. Seems like her dream, so crossing my fingers :)
ReplyDeleteIrena has a strong mindset when she really wants something. That will be one thing helping her to achieve her dreams that is for sure.
