If Only I Could Hate You Ep 2

Episode 2. Sorry this came out so late. I have been busy with my novel, school, and a sickness. Anyways, I hope you enjoy the story as I have enjoyed writing it!

Irena crossed her arms over her chest. She was not very pleased with the situation. Today, her father would be leaving for another assignment, and she would be stuck living with Micah for the school year.
Her father had explained to her earlier that he and Micah's father, Lee, were best friends in high school and college. They ended up losing contact after Tansin's work started to keep him away. This was not going to go well she thought as she burned a hole in Micah's face.

"I trust you to take care of my daughter, old friend." Tansin told Lee.
"Of course! Don't worry about a thing." Lee assured Tansin.

A cab honked outside the house.
"I have to go." Tansin turned to his daughter.
"Daddy, please don't go." Irena pouted.
"Don't worry. The year will fly by fast. Study hard. I love you." He leaned in and gave her a hug before walking out.

Later that evening, Irena was working on her next big fashion project. Because her drafting board was in the guest wing of the house, she had to share the room with Micah who was studying.
School hasn't even started yet and he is already studying. Irena thought to herself. She couldn't help but feel angry towards him. He humiliated her in front of everyone! Who does he think he is.
Realizing that the body of her drawing was too long, she started to erase heavily on the paper. She grumbled. Her designs were great, but her drawings were always off.

"You know, if you would pay attention in geometry instead of eyeing the professor's butt, you wouldn't have this problem." Micah sighed never taking his eyes off the book.

"Excuse me." Irena turned to face him. Did he really dare to embarrass her again in her own house?
"It's just an observation," he said, turning the page.
"I'm sorry. But I don't think I asked you for your opinion," Irena said furrowing her brow.
"I guess it is just a hobby anyways." Micah smirked.
"Why do you think you have the right to stomp on people and their emotions?" Irena said bitterly.

Micah placed the book on the desk and turned to face Irena.
"The world hurts so be it. If I didn't say it, someone else would have. I don't say things to stomp on you. I say them because it's what I see. Right now, I see a childish girl who has no confidence, otherwise you would have talked to me yourself rather than some letter. You have a talent you want to use in life, but your not willing to put in the work to learn how to mold it. We may be in the same graduating class, but we are on different levels. I work hard, but you are just immature."

The words stung Irena. Did he really just call me immature! He is the immature one! Look at how confident he is in himself.

"You have the nerve to call me immature? What about you Mr. Full of Himself. You are so conceited that you don't care what you say to others or how your words make them feel. You think that because you are smart and good looking that you can always get what you want and  put dirt on those you don't need. Why do you think you have the right to call people stupid or immature? You never even give girls a chance. I'm starting to think you are gay!"

Micah stood up and snarled, " Or maybe I'm just sick of all the immature brats around here. Why would any mature guy want to take you out? All you do is go gaga over Galaxy. All you even think about is boys, boys, boys. But when you get close to one you freeze up. I want a girl who has better self esteem and thinks about other things in life. Someone who wants to successful in life and is confident enough to strive for it."

"I'm sorry," Irena started to make a funny face. "All I heard was, I'm Micah. I'm better that you. I'm better than all the girls in the world. I will live unhappily alone."

"Forget it! Why even bother talking to someone so futile! I feel sorry for any man who will marry you. If any ever will! Didn't your mother ever teach you how to act like woman!"

If there was anything that could have hurt Irena worse at that moment it was that. Her mother had left her when she was still a toddler. She never got to do the mother daughter things. She never had a woman close enough that she could ask for boy advice. Dakota's love life was just as lost as Irena's so there was no getting advice from her either.

"Whatever. What do you know." Irena huffed at Micah, her face turning red. She left the room hastily. She knew that meant he won their little spat, but she didn't care.

Later, Dakota came over to console Irena. Irena had called her moments after the argument nearly in tears.

"Was it really that bad?" Dakota asked her friend.

"I am so angry at him right now! I just want him out!" Irena leaned against her dresser.
"He doesn't know about your mother, though."
"Yeah, but he knows she isn't around. I mean, why else would I be here alone!"
"Don't worry. The year will go by fast." Dakota tried to ease her tension. "Besides we have the big concert to think about!"
"I still need to get my outfit together. I'm so excited I get to meet them! Being president of the fan club is great!"
"See! Your feeling better already." Dakota laughed.

Later that night Lee called Irena and Micah to meet on the couch.
"I heard there was quite an argument." Lee eyed them both.
"You got that right." Irena huffed.
" I want to apologize on behalf of my son. He has terrible manners, especially towards women."

"Does that mean I can kick him out." Irena said jokingly.
Micah just sat there rolling his eyes.
"I overheard the comment about your mother. You seemed to be quite upset about that. Tansin mentioned they were divorced, but didn't go into much detail about it. He said he had custody and that she lived far away."
"More like she abandoned me. When I was a toddler she left me with some neighbors saying she needed to go to the store. She never came back. Dad had to come home from an assignment because of it. I was all alone for weeks." Irena informed them.
Micah tensed up. How was he supposed to know?
"I'm sorry." Lee said.
"No don't be. It's the past. I'm sorry I got angry over the comment." Irena said ending the comment.

Irena was watching T.V downstairs.
Yeah I bet he feels bad now. Irena thought to herself. He is so annoying!
Irena sat herself up realizing she needed to use the restroom.

She went to the living room bathroom which is connected to the visitor wing.
Only when she walked in, she realized it was already preoccupied.

Irena's face turned red. There stood Micah bare chested.
"Do you mind?" He said to her.
Irena turned around quickly.
Living with him is going to be very difficult, she thought.

  1. Hey! Cool chapter. I love Micah's bluntness, even though it was hard for Irena to take. Sometimes people just need to hear the truth. Congrats on the novel. :)

  3. They can be so mean! Yeah... they may be saying the truth, but can't they be a bit nicer about it? Ahhh... This is nice. You capture the tension between characters in korean shows really well. :)
